According to some reports, it's striking people between 20 and 50 which is also unusual. It's also highly contagious. It'snot a serious, deathly flu..but it probably will cause a lot of down time. So it's mandatory that you're protected as much as possible...and armed with the proper cures if it does strike your household.

Symptoms of Flu:
Flu symptoms vary from person to person as well as the infective virus.
- The most common symptoms of the Swine flu seem to be elevated temperature, sore throat, body aches, headaches, chills and respiratory problems...pretty much the same as any seasonal flu.
Seasonal Flu Symptoms:
- General body aches and often shooting sharp pain.
- Fever, but often feeling cold and shivering.
- Headache and/or eye pain.
- Sneezing, coughing, sore throat.
- Extreme fatigue
- Some flu virus' cause nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.

- This virus has nothing to do with swine. In fact, it hasn't been seen in a single animal. And you can't possibly get it from eating pork.
- No existing vaccines can prevent this new flu strain. So no matter what you hear – even if it comes from your doctor – don't get a regular flu shot. They rarely work against seasonal flu…and certainly can't offer protection from a never-before- seen strain.
- Speaking of this strain, it doesn't seem to have come on naturally. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), this particular strain has never before been seen in pigs or people. And according to Reuters, the strain is a 'genetic mix' of swine, avian and human flu. Was it created in a lab? We don't know yet.
- The drug companies are getting excited…and that's never a good thing. According to the Associated Press at least one financial analyst estimates up to $388 million worth of Tamiflu sales in the near future – and that's without a pandemic outbreak.
- Let's not forget that Tamiflu comes with its own problems, including side effects like nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, dizziness, fatigue, cough…the very symptoms you're trying to avoid. And let's not forget that Japan banned this drug for children back in 2007, after links to suicidal behavior.
- Vaccines for this flu strain probably won't have to jump through all those annoying hurdles like clinical trials for safety and effectiveness. That won't, however, stop the government from mandating the vaccine for all of us – a very likely scenario. And if the vaccines are actually harmful…killing people, for example…the vaccine makers will be immune from lawsuits.

ALLERGIC REACTION TO THE FLU OR INFLUENZA SHOT????..
Each year in the fall, I am asked by my patients "Should I get the flu shot?" My general response is a resounding "NO!". These inoculations are preserved with thimerosal, a mercury derived preservative. At the moment, all injections with this product in it are under consideration as a possible causal factor in the current upsurge of autism amongst children. I do not see this as an "allergic reaction to the flu or influenza shot" but a toxic reaction to a neurotoxin.
Now..there are studies to show that thimerosal..the mercury-containing preservative in vaccines does in fact cause Autism like symptoms...so AVOID IT at all costs..
And why is it that in Australia..where their winter season has just started...their health minister is saying the Swine Flu is just another winter seasonal flu..and not to worry?

Part Two....
To vaccinate against flu is in my opinion, ridiculous and there are alternatives to the flu vaccinations.
One totally bypasses the normal processes of the immune system in doing this.
We are all exposed to virus and bacteria everyday. These are inhaled or mostly ingested and all along the intestinal tract are IgA or immunoglobulin A…our first line of defense.
In a healthy person, that is as far as the potential invader gets. In someone immuno-compromised, either via stress, poor diet, over tired or chronically ill, the pathogen crosses over into the blood stream and the stronger antibody-antigen system is called into play.

The person then suffers symptoms of the illness, generated by our bodies "taking care of business" such as fever, coughing, cold sweats aches, pain, chest congestion,etc.
To inject pathogens directly into the blood stream, bypassing the first line of defense at the gastro-intestinal level means your stronger antibody-antigen reaction is called into play repeatedly, basically wearing it out. It does have limits! This is my opinion, predisposes the person to a life of fragile immunity (the degree of which depends on genetics and lifestyle habits as they grow).
To further insult the body they by injecting a KNOWN neurotoxin such as mercury is absolutely insane and extremely dangerous. The damage particularly to today’s children (frequent vaccinations at very early ages, small body weight and immature immune systems at these early ages) is becoming more and more evident in the doubling and tripling of autistic occurrences and general ill health.

For the past 20 years or so, I have used a wonderful alternative
to flu vaccinations - the homeopathic flu prevention program (flu
home treatment)for my patients which is nothing short of miraculous.
It is designed by Boiron, a French based homeopathic company.
Proof That This "Flu Shot" Works and Has NO Side Effects:
In a study
in Europe of 100 people, before using this program, 82% had a cold
or flu the year before. After using this program for one year,
78% had neither cold or flu, 11% had a slight case and only 11%
actually had flu or cold. In the second year with this program,
85% had nothing, 9% had a slight cold or flu and only 6% had one
or the either. This supports what I have found over the years....after
3 winters of using this program, my patients experience neither
cold or flu..at all.
It consists
of Thymuline a homeopathic designed to stimulate
and strengthen the immune system (immune enchancers) by up-regulating
the thymus gland..the center of the immune system and Influenzinum,
a homeopathic dilution of virus and bacteria from the previous
winter. This stimulates the immune system to react
and be ready for these pathogens and their subsequent
mutations. As of this winter, (2009-2010)
we will have the homeopathic of Swine Flu, SARS and the Avian Flu (H1N1) (H2N2),
(H2N1) .
One takes a vial of Thymuline on the first of the month,(small container, you take the whole thing). Homeopathics must be taken away from food or drink, on a clean palate, so first thing in the morning is a good time. Then go shower or whatever and don’t eat, drink or brush your teeth for 20 minutes.
In the Infuenzinum box are 5 vials. You take one per week for the first five weeks when you start the programme and then that's it! Continue with the Thymuline one on the first of each month to April.
I have people start these in October or November and take them until the end of April. If you miss the October/Novermber start up, you can start any time…it can only help.

I use a similar program for Spring and Summer allergies. One uses the Thymuline the same way and instead of the Influenzinum, we use homeopathic pollens, etc. to build the person’s tolerance up.
These programs work better each year. I have found for the children in my practice particularly, after being on the program for two to three winters..they just do not get colds and flus and if they display any symptoms, they are not bed ridden, just sniffy but miss no school, etc. and rarely use antibiotics.

The Flu Shot - Flu in Pregnancy:
If you've read what I wrote above, you'll know that I don't believe the flu vaccine is good for anyone. But, particulary in pregnancy!
You see, any chemicals or toxins (like the mercury in the vaccine and the other chemicals in it) are exceptionally harmful to quickly dividing cells. Basically because the damage to the DNA in the cell is reproduced at warp speed having a larger and more detrimental effect on the overall organism. Well, there is not much that is more quickly dividing and multiplying than the cell of the unborn baby! This is the prime reason women are told explicitly not to smoke or drink alcohol in pregnancy.
It's old news now that mercury is highly suspect in the disasterous raise in autism over the past 10 - 15 years. Why then would you inject directly into a new being's mother? The person whose body is nuturing and protecting the baby as it grows into a new being. Plain common logic says this is insanity!
The homeopathic flu programme is completely safe in pregnancy and works very well. The remedies (homeopathics and supplements) I suggest below are fine, but I don't recommend the herbal tinctures as there is just not enough known about herbals in pregnancy.

REMEDIES FOR COLD/FLU SYMPTOMS
For those who DO develop flu and/or colds, I am including here the best remedies and support to get through this.
Chest Congestion:
The accumulation of phlegm, pain on breathing and/or coughing is a very common problem. The creation of "catarrh" or mucous in the body is its defense against invaders. There is a series of support I use VERY successfully for my patients. These are items I recommend people have in their homes to be able to "jump" on viral/bacterial infections ASAP!
Anti-Virals Some of My Favourite Immunity Enhancers:
Oil of Oregano
Oil of Oregano has been know for centuries in the Mediterranean, where it grows wild for its healing properties.
Oregano oil (Origanum vulgare) is well known for its ability to slow down food spoilage through its anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-parasitic and anti-oxidant activity. The related herbs thyme and marjoram sold in most North American supermarkets, are labeled incorrectly as oregano and possess little of wild oregano's miraculous healing properties.
Isomeric phenols (primarily carvacrol) in oregano oil in dilutions as low as 1/50,000 destroys Candida albicans, the Aspergillus mold, Staphylococcus, Campylobacter, Klebsiella, E.coli, Giardia, Pseudomonas, and Proteus. Another phenol constituent, thymol, boosts the immune system. These compounds also act as free radical scavengers (shield against toxins) thus preventing further tissue damage while encouraging healing.
Oil of oregano is antiviral, antibacterial, antifungal, and antiparasitic. It also has strong antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects and is an ideal product to use for people who suffer from CFS and/or fibromyalgia. This is not regular oregano, but a wild form (wild mountain oregano, vulgare species) of the spice, which has, until recently, not been available in Canada. Do not use a substitute oregano from a grocery store because it will have no effect. Oil of oregano natural herbal supplement offers a variety of remedies.
Steven Foster credits oregano as having "been employed to treat indigestion, diarrhea, nervous tension, insect bites, toothache, earache, rheumatism, and coughs due to whooping cough and bronchitis (primarily for it's antispasmodic effects)."
Oregano is one of the most diverse health aids available. Unfortunately, however, most of the oregano that consumers are familiar with contains only trace quantities of the actual species of the plant, or in some cases, none at all.
Meanwhile, researchers have uncovered numerous benefits to using oregano and extracted oil of oregano. However, buyer beware. These significant health benefits are unattainable if the oregano is not the true substance.
