PET FOOD RECALL - RECIPES FOR HOMEMADE DOG FOODSI don't think it any surprise at all that since the dry pet food recall, owners are all looking for alternatives for feeding their pets. Recipes for homemade dog foods, cat food and really ANY pet food are being sought out. I have talked about the horrors of pet food on my Pet Care pages and what you should be looking for in a good food. Well, good news! I've found this excellent report on homemade dog food recipes by a guy whose beloved dog's life was taken by bad dog food. ANDREW LEWIS... LOST "NOBLE" DUE TO FOOD THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN PART OF A RECALL ON DOG FOOD....AND HE WROTE THIS REPORT ON RECIPES FOR MAKING HOMEMADE DOG FOOD!
Andrew Lewis lost his beloved Noble at only 4 years of age. You can just imagine his rage when he realized it was the dog food he fed Noble, with all the best intentions of doing the best he could for his adored dog. Andrew was told by his vet..... "Andrew, I'm very sorry to tell you but Noble is dying. "The preservatives found in the commercial dog food you feed him have destroyed his kidneys. "He will be dead in 3 weeks, maybe 4 and it's too late to prevent it. "You see, the major dog food companies fill their processed food with preservatives to increase it's shelf life and maximize their profits. "They know these preservatives kill millions of pets every single year but without them, their profits would not be as large... and that is the bottom line.. "Andrew, Noble is dying for the sake of fattening company profits!"...as you'll see in the main page at Andrew's site .
Only with recipes for homemade dog food can you avoid what the experts are saying about commercial dog food.... World-famous vet and dog-care author Alfred Plechner, says the poor nutritional properties of commercial dog food inevitably lead to disease..
Do YOU have a pet with skin problems, allergies, digestive problems???? Well, now you can see why. Leading dog-health author, Ann N. Martin, sums up the state of commercial dog food in a single sentence.. "Most commercial pet foods are garbage"
"If it had not been for the illness of my two dogs in 1990 I would likely still be feeding commercial pet foods, thinking I was doing what is best for my beloved pets. I would also still be paying vet bills almost on a monthly basis. And ultimately, I would not have been aware that my pets who have died over the years were ending up at a rendering plant." says Ann on her publisher's page at New Sage Press. Orginaly written in 1997, the newer edition (2002) of "Foods Pets Die For" has even more scathing, but honest reports of what those, whose only interest is the almighty dollar are doing to people's loved companions. "Protect Your Pets: More Shocking Facts" goes more deeply into the issue of over vaccination and over medication of these priceless pets. Ann also includes many homemade dog and cat food recipes, although not as many as Andrew Lewis' book Ann's books are available at Amazon.com in the US or Amazon.ca in Canada. Another idea....... Many people find it hard to find the time to actually prepare their own pets' foods..with kids, working, etc...so I've found a great solution for you too! Sojourner Farms makes a very healthy mix that you just add you own, good quality meat to for your homemade cat and dog food.
