I think some of my most worrisome cases have been that of young people with moderate to serious acne in their teen years. At a time when self-confidence and finding oneself in the swarm of other kids at high school, this could NOT be worse timing in a person's life.

Everyone wants a quick fix and for it to just go away. The problem is, in most situations, they are encouraged to just use a particular chemically-based product or line of acne skin care products, which worsens cellular toxicity and very rarely does anyone talk about healing from within...to find the actual acne causes.

Resveratrol - In the Limelight

There is no doubt that many among us, in the context of dinner-party banter or some other setting conducive to the transfer of anecdotal wisdom, have heard that a glass of wine a day is good for your health. ‘A healthy heart and a long life' is usually the jist of this particular nugget of scientifically secular enlightenment. The long life that is inferred is attributable to a substance that science has identified as resveratrol, a phytonutrient originating -in this case - in the vinyards.

Resveratrol, in turn, elicits this wondrous effect largely by mimicking many of the biological chain of events seen in the practice of Calorie Restriction Optimum Nutrition (CRON), or simply Caloric Restriction (CR).

In the scheme of things, about the only real science, for life extension exists in the world of calorie restriction. Not that there isn't all kinds of other believed ways to slow aging and lengthen life...but this arena takes the 'cake' for actual proof..for now.

But what we are finding is that there are some items in nature which can give us the same benefits at the cellular level as calorie restriction. CR is not popular for people to follow...it's very restrictive..a reduction of 40% of recommended calories for body size and healthy status...people become gangly..not just slim. It's a very tough discipline. But if one could lower...even 15-20% of their calories and take these phytonutrients..Acta-Reservatrol and Benegene, then it seems we can experience the benefits without being quite so restrictive.

One has to be careful how the reservatrol is produced..only the 'trans' form does the job. But you can see that at the link Acta-Reseratrol

And, oh...about the glass of red wine per day to provide you with the reservatrol you need??? Science now shows that you'd have to drink about 1,000 glasses to get that amount. Probably not a good plan....

Vaccine Safety Awareness

To vaccine or not to vaccine...that is THE question. I've got to give it to www.mothering.com This is one of my favourite sites..and I subscribed to the journal for decades while my kids were growing up.

They've put this letter on their site, for those who think they might want to vaccinate, but would like an agreement between themselves and their doctor..some type of 'guarantee'. I'm sure if the physicians would read this...they themselves would be less inclined to willy-nilly suggest all the ridiculous numbers of vaccines they do today.

Christmas Protection For Your Pet

Well, 'tis the Season and all that...but it's also the most common time of year for boarding pets as people travel to visit family.

Many of you know that I also run a site for Kennel Cough, which probably the most common affiliction of dogs and cats (sometimes) after being put in a kennel or boarding facility for some time.

I've written at length about the valuable, safe and effective treatment of kennel cough by homeopathic remedies...but one thing that should also be addressed is the pining or grief animals feel when they are away from their beloved owners.

Animals form very deep attachments to their owners and to each other and are sensitive to our moods and everyday stresses. After all – that is what makes them such great friends and companions!

Sadness or animal depression can seriously affect their immune system and make them more prone to surrounding infections. It can also lead to destructive behaviour or aggression, depending on the animal..none of which you want.

Here is what I recommend. Use the three remedies below: Immunity and Liver, KC Defense and Grief and Pining.

Two days before boarding your dog/cat..give them one dose of Immunity and Liver and one dose of KC Defense each day. On the day you leave, give a dose of Grief and Pining. Have the care-givers give a dose of the Immunity and Liver Support and a dose of KC Defense each day and a dose of the Grief and Pining at night.

For those who are taking your pet with you..here are a couple of great suggestions. It's hard for many pets to travel and they do suffer from motion sickness..and the anxiety of being in a vehicle..confined and sensing the motion.

About a half hour before leaving give your pet a dose of each remedy..separating the doses by 10 minutes or so. If they show anxiety or stress during the trip, dose again. This can be several times.

Make sure NOT to feed them for at least a hour before getting into the car or vehicle.

Take a favourite blanket along to make your pet feel at home. Ventilate the car well..don't let it get stuffy. Take several breaks for water and a little exercise/fresh air.
